Bishops Stortford Kyokushin Karate Club was started in 1973 and was run by Senpai Dave Bedbrook from 1975 until 2002, currently the club is being run by Senpai Mark Kingsland who trained under the
guidence of Senpai Dave Bedbrook. The club has hosted several National competitions for mens and womens Clicker, Kata, Knockdown and Junior
WUKO, as well as numerous inter-club competitions between English and Welsh clubs. The Bishops' Stortford club, have in past years taken teams, to Lille, France to form the first British Kyokushinkai karate team to take on a National French
team. It has travelled to Czechoslovakia to compete in the Moravia Cup against the likes of the Yugoslavia national team, and also accommodated a Czech team in return in England. It has travelled to Hungary to compete in competitions and a lot
nearer to home at National competitions for Clicker, WUKO and Knockdown in London, Wales and Scotland. The club has also travelled to Wales for the yearly event of training under Welsh waterfalls (first weekend of the year). Most recently
club members have represented Great Britain in the 3rd Senior World Championships in Tokyo, Japan in 2005, the European Championships in Bulgaria in 2002, competed in Holland and Kuwait (2000 & 2002) in friendly internationals, competed in
the 1998 European Championships in Zaragosa, Spain, competed in the England National Knockdown Team in National competitions with Scotland and Wales, attended National Junior WUKO squad sessions, National Knockdown squad sessions, Kata
instruction and Instructors courses. Bishops Stortford Kyokushin Karate Club is in The International Kyokushin Organisation (Great Britain). The I.K.O.(GB) is committed to the promotion of Kyokushin karate in Great Britain, and the
I.K.O.(GB) is the only Kyokushin Organisation in Great Britain to be recognised by Japan and the European Kyokushin Organisation.
Senpai Bedbrook had practised Kyokushin karate for many years, teaching and running Bishops Stortford Kyokushin Karate Club for 26 years, he also
ran its sister club Harlow Kyokushin Karate Club for 7 years and trained many successful National and Internationals fighters.
